Languages Certification B1

Course Description

B1 corresponds to the “Intermediate” level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). At this level, learners have moved beyond the basics and can manage a broad range of everyday situations in English. They can understand and produce language that’s more complex than beginner level, though there’s still room for improvement in precision, fluency, and handling unfamiliar topics.

Who Should Enroll in This Course?

  • Learners who already know basic English (around A1-A2) and want to become more independent.
  • Students or adults needing to communicate more confidently in work, travel, study or social contexts.
  • Those aiming to obtain a recognized certification at B1 level for academic, employment or immigration purposes.
  • Anyone who wants to improve all four skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing) in more challenging, real-life contexts.

What You’ll Be Able to Do by the End

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand main ideas of clear standard input (spoken or written) on familiar matters regularly encountered (work, school, leisure).
  • Handle most situations when traveling to regions where English is spoken.
  • Produce simple, connected texts about topics familiar to you or of personal interest. (E.g. descriptions, short essays, explanations.)

  • Duration and format may vary depending on the certifying body (some computer-based, some paper-based; some all-in-one exam, others split).
  • Your performance will be assessed against CEFR B1 “can-do” descriptors: clarity of expression, coherence, appropriate vocabulary, grammatical accuracy, understanding of main ideas etc. Grades may include distinctions like Pass / High Pass / Fail, depending on the exam.

Benefits of Achieving B1 Certification

  • Helps with further advancement toward higher levels—B2, C1 etc.—as you have a solid foundation of skills.
