Languages Certification A1

Course Description

This course is designed for beginners aiming to reach the A1 level under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It certifies basic ability in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, focusing on everyday communication. The certificate serves as proof that you can understand and use familiar, very simple expressions, introduce yourself and others, and interact in a basic way.

What You’ll Learn & Be Able To Do

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

Listening

  • Understand very basic, commonly used words and simple phrases if spoken slowly and clearly.
  • Follow simple instructions, greetings, or short spoken exchanges.

Reading

  • Read and understand short, simple texts like signs, notices, menus, labels, or simple personal messages.
  • Identify familiar names, words, and very basic sentences.

Writing

  • Write short sentences, fill in simple forms (e.g., name, address), write greeting cards or postcards.
  • Produce basic phrases about yourself, your family, where you live, your likes/dislikes.

Speaking

  • Introduce yourself, talk about where you live, people you know, things you have.
  • Ask and answer simple questions (e.g., about your home, family, hobbies) and interact if the other person speaks slowly and clearly and helps the conversation.

Course Format & Structure

  • Lessons: 3 total sessions covering all four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking).
  • Materials: Short texts, dialogues, audio recordings, visual prompts (pictures), simple exercises.
  • Grammar & Vocabulary: Basic — greetings, common greetings, pronouns, simple present tense, everyday vocabulary (family, foods, daily routines, weather, numbers, time, places).
  • Activities:
    • Listening to short, clear recordings and responding to questions.
    • Reading simple passages and matching / fill-in / comprehension tasks.
    • Writing very short messages, filling out forms, describing basic things.
    • Speaking practice on familiar, personal topics.

Certification & Assessment

  • Assessment will test your performance in all four skills, in contexts and tasks appropriate to A1 level.
  • Upon successful completion, you will receive a Languages Certification A1 certificate aligned with the CEFR framework.
  • The certificate is internationally recognized and indicates that you have beginner proficiency in English.
